Sticky Albert

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein

I must admit I stole this quote.  Not just from Mr. Einstein, but from a friend’s blog called Souzapalooza, in which she writes with enthusiasm and honesty about everyday life.  The quote is so apropos to so many areas of life, including the business world, and more specifically, the marketing world.

Many businesses veer off their intended marketing plan as soon a new department chief or committee is formed with a new set of opinions.   I see this over and over again, and in the marketing arena,  this leads to very mediocre results.  If organizations are stalled because of a change in command, or keep changing course because of a lack of “stick-to-it-ive-ness” to the stated goals, it’s going to hurt their bottom line.  If we can learn from Master Einstein’s thinking, we can chart a  new course:  set objectives, decide on a strategy to reach the agreed upon goals, implement the tactics to get there and of utmost importance…be consistent in our follow through…we just may be able to “expect different results”.
